Crimson Fishing Club, Varsity Fishing Club · Fishing: Heating up with the heat wave

This past weekend was a busy weekend for many of the students on the Maple Grove Fishing Team. On Saturday July 11th, there was a virtual fishing tournament held across the state. Over 100 teams participated. The team of Carson Frank (picture below left) and Ryan Renstrom (picture below right) took 3rd place in the event, catching a team weight of 25.51 pounds of bass.

Another Maple Grove Team of Cedric Buchholtz and Thomas Schlangen (pictured below) placed in 11th place with a total weight of 21.59 pounds. Very impressive for an event with over 100 teams competing.

Following the virtual event on Sunday July 12th was the Student Angler Tournament Trail Event held on Lake Mille Lacs. There were 200 teams participating on the water. The team of Renstrom/Frank placed the highest of the Maple Grove teams as they weighed over 21 pounds to take 25th place out of 200 teams.

The anglers have been out enjoying the outdoors and having a blast this summer. It’s fun to see smiles and all the nice fish that they are catching.
