Gray was born and raised in northeast Ohio where he was a multi-sport athlete through high school and a Div I baseball recruit for Butler University. With over 30 years of coaching and officiating experience across multiple sports, he has a deep passion for positive youth development and mentoring. Gray started his volleyball coaching career here in Minnesota within the club volleyball scene in 2014 where he found a love for this sport and has never looked back. He has spent the last 6 years coaching for Minnesota Select Volleyball Club and jumped at opportunities to find roles within USA Volleyballs High Performance Pipeline program. His high school coaching career began with a single season at Totino Grace HS before having the opportunity to come to Maple Grove. Gray has spent the last 4 season as Varsity Assistant for the Crimson girls program and earned 2018 MSHSL Section 5AAA Assistant Coach of the Year honors. Last year he took on the head coach role for the inaugural season of the Maple Grove Boys Club Volleyball program and is looking forward to helping the sport continue to grow.
Coach Gray works in supply chain management for General Mills and lives in Maple Grove with his wife and two daughters. When he’s not in the gym, he loves spending time with his family, fishing and being outdoors.
He can’t wait to get back into the gym and drive this program to ongoing successes while motivating the athletes to reach for their full potential through hard work, respect and a love of the game they play.
