The Student Angler Tournament Trail took to the famed waters of Leech Lake on June 30th. This was the largest high school tournament ever in the state of Minnesota. The tournament boasted a field of 170 boats from high schools all across the state. Leech Lake is home to some of the largest Largemouth Bass in our great state. Leech can also be very overwhelming to anglers, as it has 195 miles of shoreline and covers over 100,000 acres!

The team of Parker Nikko (above right) and Lucas Winge (above left) weighed in at 16.3 pounds of Leech Lake Bass and they landed a monster 4.6 pound Largemouth (pictured left). Their weight was good enough for 41st place out 170 boats, which is impressive as many teams are separated by just ounces!

The Student Angler Tournament Trail will take to the famed Lake Mille Lacs on Sunday, July 14th on it’s next stop of the year.
